Nightfall New Orleans Rules
The following includes General Site Rules, Forum Rules, and Experience.

  General Site Rules

Players have two weeks from the time of Forum registration to submit a character. If a character is not submitted within this two week period, the Forum account will be deleted. We apologize for this stipulation but we have experienced many account registrations with no character or posting follow-up. If you have a time constraint on your game-play availability, please contact one of our ST's and inform them. We do understand that people have lives, families, and jobs that must come first in everyday life.

1) You MUST be 16 or older to be a member of this site.  This is a role-playing site based in a world filled with violence and horror.  This is NOT a site for children. If you are under 16 you will be denied membership.

2) Please do not bash other storytelling web sites here. We will not tolerate that kind of negativity. If you had a bad experience on another site and wish to vent about it, we suggest you get a MySpace account and vent about it in your blog.

3) We will not allow any scenes involving rape. Anyone posting such scenes will be immediately banned. There will not be a warning period for this infraction.

4) All rules in all books are guidelines. We do exercise creative license.

5) A single player may have up to six characters, Vampire, Ghoul, Mortals. You cannot play your own Ghoul. They may not share clan and covenent, however they may all be unaligned.

  Forum Rules

1) Characters are allowed to be in one sticky thread and one non-sticky thread. We do not allow characters to be in more then one of these types of threads at a time. Otherwise it becomes very confusing if your character is supposed to be in three places at once.

2) A scene has not happened until a thread ends. If a thread is started on Dec. 30, but does not end until Jan. 5, then the thread did not happen until Jan. 5. Which means other characters (ones not involved in the scene itself) cannot react to that scene until Jan. 5, when the thread ended.

3) Please do not take liberties with other peoples characters. Unless you have permission, do not assume a character is doing anything. The player will specifically state what his or her character is doing. Unless the player has stated an action, do not assume they are taking any action. If there is any confusion during a scene, contact the player and ask.

4) The ST's ruling stands. If an ST makes a ruling in your scene, then that ruling stands as the ST has stated it. Arguing with said ruling will not change the ruling and it will hold up the scene for all others involved. If you have a question about a ruling, please ask the ST through a PM. Do not argue about a ruling in an ongoing scene. This action will cause a warning to be sent to you.

5) If an ST makes a ruling in your scene, follow that ruling. Do not ignore the ruling and hope it will go away. It won't. If the ruling is not followed by all players involved, then a warning will be sent to all players involved.

6) Players will receive warnings for infractions of the rules. The first warning is to make the player aware that he has broken a rule. The second warning is to inform the player that he is continuing to break a rule and experience will be deducted from his character. A third warning is to inform the player that he is continuing to break the rules and is in danger of being temporarily banned. There is no fourth warning. After the fourth infraction, the player will be banned from the boards for three days. If the player continues to break the rules after he has returned from his ban period, his account will be deleted and he will be permanently banned from the site
.

7) STRIKING LOOKS

What is it about your character that is STRIKING? We ask this because everyone is different. Striking looks is not always Beauty, sometimes it is an ugliness that is just so Oh MY that you will remember it. So we are asking that for every Level you have of this Merit (SL2 & SL4) you give an Adjective to show what you are.

Please figure out what makes you Striking and let us know so we know how to react.

Is that Nosferatu in the corner......Grotesque?
Is that Changeling on stage..........Stunning?
Is that Forsaken in the park..........Mangy?
Is that Mage in the bar................Alluring?
Is that Mortal on the street..........Obese?

Add either in your opening post in a thread that the Obese man walked into the room, or in your Signature line (SL2: Obese) or in your heading.

8
) We don't like Dice just being tossed.

Try using words first for your skill in question, your trying to be persuasive, attempt to persuade them with words, we know everyone is not a master at this or not even at the level of their dice. If they feel that they cannot back up their words/actions with narration alone, PM the ST of the venue and they will respond.

9
If the ST says roll to the aggressor, then that automatically gives the defender the chance to roll.

10
) Please pay attention to people's signatures. Everyone has their character's information in their signatures, whether it be huge size, one-eye, or lame. These signatures need to be given attention and reacted to if necessary (I.E Huge Size)

11 A thread must be open for no less then 36 hours before it can be considered dead and unmoving and closed.

12)Continuity

In an attempt to keep things a little better for continuity sake. All threads will be considered to have happened as soon as the last post is made and it is considered closed by all involved. So if you wish to give information learned or discovered because of a thread your in you cannot give out this information until your done with that thread.

This does not count to Stickied threads for they are generally going to be ones that take longer and have more characters involved. These threads will have DATES associated with them and will be considered to be done on that date or group of dates.

Electronic communications can be used in a thread, but the person called will be tied to the same time structure as the originating thread so that information does not seem to spill across time.

We will not be watch-dogging every post for these rules but we would like you to do your best to attempt and follow this to help us keep things moving forward as best as we can.

  Experience

Experience reports are due in the last 7 days of the month and will be responded to by no later then the 3rd of the next month. IE Experience report is turned in on Sept. 30th, experience is granted no later then Oct. 3rd/ The Experience reports can be found in the character creation forms area.

A character can earn from 10-15 experience a month, depending on the content in his or her experience report.

Your XP report must be sent to the Main ST. Co-STs may be consulted regarding your experience, but they do not award said experience.

NOTE: Keep in mind there are certain traits that may not be bought with just experience. IE Resources
must be worked on IC before a player may spend experience to raise this trait. If you have any questions about which traits fall under this category, please ask your venue ST.
